A greater buying opportunity than ever before could be on the horizon for real estate investors due to the economic distress caused by the coronavirus pandemic. 

The Wall Street Journal reported that hotels, retail properties, and mortgage-backed securities will likely present big opportunities for distressed-asset investors.

While there are risks to buying distressed assets, it may help the market to bounce back in the long run.

“While few distressed assets have hit the market so far, many investors expect a greater opportunity than that seen during the last financial crisis, when prices fell by 35 prices between August 2008 and June 2010 according to Real Capital Analytics.”
