In an area that has seen steady growth in home prices, renters and sellers have had to get creative to get people to take notice.
Free pools, a month of free rent, or gift cards for virtual tours are just a few of the offers renters and sellers are using to get people to view their properties during uncertain times.
William Ryan Homes, a large developer in the Tampa area, has been offering free pools, $20,000 towards bonus features like a “gourmet kitchen,” as well as price protection plans that allows buyers who have entered into a contract to get a lower price if the base price falls before closing. The aforementioned price protection plan has not been used since the Great Recession.
“Asked whether this shift could represent a lingering buyers’ market in the Tampa Bay area, Thorson said it’s simply too early to know.”
