This article predicts that a “silver tsunami” is about to shift the U.S. housing market in a major way as Americans age 65 and older put their homes up for sale.

The huge “baby boomer” generation is nearing retirement, which means that, while some will stay in their current homes, many will downsize or move into assisted living facilities. In turn, this could flood the market with homes for sale, causing a decrease in home prices. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing as it would make home-buying more affordable, especially for millennials and first time home buyers.
